International ride sharing service
Android, iOS
Native app, Java Android, Objective-C iOS
Shofer is a ride-sharing service operating in South Africa and Western Australia that competes locally with Uber, focusing on price transparency and offering users a higher level of safety.
Shofer is a project created entirely by ELbuild with funding from entrepreneurs from South Africa and the support of local staff.
Shofer presents itself, on the markets in which it operates, as an alternative to Uber by focusing on price transparency which is initially established, without "surge pricing", and its innovative security features such as cameras inside the vehicle connected 24/7 to a control centre and an ignition interlock via breathalyser (a device that ensures that the driver is 100% sober).
At ELbuild, we designed and built the entire system from scratch, starting from the backend developed on Java EE technologies and hosted on AWS infrastructure, as well as developing the two iOS and Android apps built with native technologies. ELbuild also designed the entire user interface, graphic design and website. The administration console for the Shofer PTY Ltd staff was built using Angular JS. Shofer operates in Durban, South Africa, and Perth, Australia, with a growing market share from month to month.
